I am Nature

Kro Art contemporary, Vienna 2019

drawings / graphite pencil

The concept of nature is difficult to grasp. In its simplest definition, nature is often described as that which has not been created by man or as the opposite of culture. According to this definition, art with the title "I am nature" would be a paradox, if not an impossibility. However, since nature cannot do without its antithesis in order to define its conceptuality, we venture in the context of this exhibition precisely at the interface of these two antagonisms.

In this field of tension, animal, plant, landscape, material, and human existence are used to approach a definition of nature that is free of values and opposed to the restrictive dualism of nature: nature as a whole cannot be represented, cannot be grasped. What is nature? There are natural phenomena that we can discover, that we can perceive, that catch our eye:

The drawing process, beginning with vague scribbles, has made a wealth of small animal-like creatures jump onto paper. In the process of condensation, swarms were created which, as a natural socialization, are a frequently observed phenomenon. However, root fellies, tree structures, mushrooms, etc. are also conceivable.
